It is cost-effective wetting and dispersing additive to improve pigment wetting and stabilize the pigment dispersion. It is a controlled flocculating agent and is therefore preferably used in primers and undercoats. It helps to prevent interfacial tension between hydrophilic pigments/extenders and binders. It creates thixotropy and therefore prevents flooding and floating, settling of the pigments and reduces sagging.
